Japan reiterates support for Japino children

MANILA, Philippines - Japan reiterated over the weekend its commitment to support Japanese-Filipino children as it turned over to them pieces of training equipment in Manila

Ambassador Makoto Katsura led the turnover of the "Project for Strengthening the Organization of Japanese-Filipino Children and Youth" at Batis Center for Women Office in Malate, Manila.

"With the project, Batis-YOGHI with its 100 JFC members will benefit from the training programs for organizational development and management, peer counseling, leadership and educational sessions," the Japanese embassy said.

Equipment such an LCD projector and video camera were provided to support the programs. Training modules will be developed to serve as reference materials for conducting similar programs.

Various information materials will also be produced to generate public awareness.

The project amounting to $28,433 (P1.259 million) was funded through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects as part of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA).

It will facilitate the implementation of capacity building programs for Batis-YOGHI (Youth Organization Gives Hope and Inspiration), an organization for Japanese-Filipino children.

Batis-YOGHI was formed as part of a major intervention with the JFC.

"This project reaffirms Japan's continued support for building the capacity of individuals in order for them to shape their growth towards becoming decent, mature and responsible citizens of the
society," Katsura said. - GMANews.TV
