Pinoy in UAE stands trial for stealing wallet
MANILA, Philippines - A 25-year-old Filipino salesman stood trial Sunday in the United Arab Emirates' Criminal Court of First Instance for allegedly taking the wallet of a woman last month.
Online news site Khaleej Times on Monday reported the Filipino, whose identity was withheld, was accused of taking the wallet in a shop in Atlantis Hotel on Oct. 24.
The wallet that reportedly belonged to a woman contained Dh18,000 (P239,900) and 20 Kuwaiti dinars(P3,586).
Court records said the incident allegedly happened on October 24 as the suspect was on duty as a salesman at in a shop at Atlantis Hotel.
An Australian manager said the hotel guest lost her wallet while she was in the shop.
The report said defendant admitted he stole the wallet and has returned Dh8,000 and 61 Kuwaiti dinars saying that he spent the rest on shopping. - GMANews.TV
