Two Filipinos nabbed in Brunei for overstaying
MANILA, Philippines - Two Filipino nationals suspected of illegally staying in Brunei were arrested by authorities, an online report said on Friday.
Borneo Bulletin reported on Friday that Brunei’s Belait Immigration Enforcement Section arrested two Filipinos suspected of working on a social visitor’s pass as well as bearing an invalid identification card that has expired since 2003.
The duo were arrested when five Immigration Enforcement officials raided a shop building’s renovation site in Brunei’s Tutong district.
Meanwhile, the officials also issued a special pass to an Indonesian who was apparently holding an employment pass as a gardener but was instead working at a construction site, therefore breaking immigration regulations.
A Filipino foreman was also ordered to report to authorities for allegedly recruiting the three suspects for the construction project.
The report also said that the Enforcement Section will continue to conduct such operations, hoping to encourage the public to give more information regarding possible immigration offenders. - Kimberly Jane T. Tan, GMANews.TV
