69 more Pinoys due home from Syria

At least 69 more Filipinos who availed of repatriation from strife-torn Syria are due to return to the Philippines in two batches Monday night and Tuesday afternoon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said the 69 safely crossed the Syrian-Lebanese border on Sunday and were brought to the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.

With the new returnees, said the DFA, the number of repatriates from Syria will reach 3,951.

It said the first batch of 34 repatriates is scheduled to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal I at 11:10 p.m. Monday aboard Etihad Airways flight EY 0428.

The second batch of 35 repatriates is to arrive Tuesday at 3:20 p.m. via Etihad Airways flight EY 0424.

Meanwhile, the DFA reiterated its appeal to Filipinos still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation as the violence there is still worsening.

It said they can call the Embassy at 963-11-6132626.
