OFW shares own contingency plan in S. Korea

MANILA – A Filipina who is married to a South Korean is ready to bring their children back home to the Philippines in case tensions escalate.

Jocelyn Montero is an English teacher and has been living in South Korea for eight years now.
“Noong unang week po nagkagulo yung iba. Yung iba parang normal na lang sa kanila. Parang wala lang. Parang walang aksyon yung mga residente dito. Parang di takot,” she said.
But Montero still fears for her family’s safety. She said she talked to her husband about bringing their children to the Philippines when the situation worsens in the country.
“Kami lang po ng mga anak ko po,” she said.
She said, “Halimbawang matuloy ito, sabi ko uwi muna kami ng Pilipinas. Sabi niya paano daw siya? Sabi ko naman po syempre di ka pwedeng makalabas dito talagang tutulong kayo sa country nyo”.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the situation in South Korean remains normal and calm.
