OFWs warned vs. online scam using Labor chief Bello's name

Filipino workers abroad have been warned against an online solicitation scam using Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III's name.
According to Bello, he was informed of a fake Facebook account using his name to entice OFWs to invest in bogus businesses. He said he had already brought this to Facebook management.
"I am advising the public, especially our OFWs, to be vigilant so as not to be victimized by these individuals," Bello said in a statement Monday, referring to the people behind the fake Facebook account.
He urged OFWs to transact with legitimate business entities so that they will not be victimized by scammers.

Bello also advised them not to give any information, especially financial in nature, to unidentified persons.

Bello also urged the public to report to the Department’s Hotline 1349 any information similar to the said scheme.  —KBK, GMA News
