OFWs can now pay OWWA membership fee through mobile app

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can now pay their Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) fee through their smartphones, after the agency upgraded its mobile application.
Announced during Migrant Workers Day in Pasay City last week, the OWWA mobile app on Google Playstore now allows members to pay their biannual $25 membership fee in the absence of an OWWA office in their host country.
"This is a manifestation of the labor department’s dedication in providing quality services to the Filipino migrant workers," Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said.
"Our modern-day heroes deserve more than salutations, but government initiatives to ensure their welfare while they sacrifice for their families and for the country."
OWWA members are entitled to avail of loans, acquire TESDA scholarship, and avail of livelihood and entrepreneurship seminars and other reintegration programs upon their return
In addition to this service, OFWs may also use the app to check their employment contract information, membership status, payment history and member beneficiaries.
They may also use the app to familiar themselves about the services of OWWA, such as disability, dismemberment, and death benefits; seafarers upgrading program; skills for employment scholarship program; information technology training program; and OFW Enterprise Development and Loan program.
OWWA contact details, such as hotline numbers, email address, and regional office address, are also available on the app.
According to OWWA, the app has more than 10,000 downloads since its launch last May 2 during OWWA’s 35th Founding Anniversary. Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
