Pinoy dad, 4 daughters die in car crash in Delaware


A Filipino father and his four daughters lost their lives in a car crash in Townsend, Delaware on Friday.
The fatalities were identified as Audie Trinidad, and his daughters Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17, and twins Allison and Melissa, 13, according to nj.com.
Their mother Mary Rose, 53, was injured and brought to the hospital for serious injuries. She is at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, abc7ny.com reported. 
According to the Delaware State Police, the father was wearing a seatbelt and died on the spot. His four daughters did not have their seatbelts fastened and died on the spot. The mother was wearing a seatbelt and was seated at the front passenger seat.
Initial investigation by police showed that the accident occurred at 3:47 p.m. on State Route 1 Highway (Rt. 1) in the vicinity of Noxontown Road.
A Ford F-350 going southbound went to the northbound lane and first struck a Mercury Sable car then hit the Toyoto Sienna van driven by  Trinidad.
The drivers and occupants of the Ford F-350 and Mercury Sable were treated at the hospital and released with non-life threatening injuries.
Linda Douglas, a friend of the family, has started a GoFundMe page for Mary Rose. 
Audie was a postal worker and Mary Rose works as a nurse at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, abc7.ny.com reported. They lived in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Kaitlyn was studying nursing at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in The Bronx, New York, it added.
In a Facebook post, the Filipino American Society of Teaneck posted: "The Lord took too many angels from us yesterday. Audie, Kaitlyn, Dana, Allison, & Melissa Trinidad. Rest In Peace."
Friends have organized a candle-lighting activity for the victims at the Green Showcase Area by the Recreational Center on Saturday.
