MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday sang praises for Jordan's King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, who he called "a man of his words."
"Si King Abdullah he’s a very good guy, ano siya (he's) sincere. I have nothing but praises for him. He has a human soul kaya matagal kaming nag-usap (so we talked for a long time) about you. Pag-usapan lang namin is yung undocumented dito (We talked about undocumented Filipinos here)," Duterte told the Filipino community in Jordan.
The President said he will work on the issue of undocumented Filipinos in Jordan, which hosts some 40,000 Filipino workers, through Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.
"I will send maybe Secretary Cayetano to fix this thing. Alam mo bakit? Wala kayong dapat taguan. (Do you know why? Because you don't have to hide from anybody.) Because His Majesty is a man of his words. Isa sa mga rare ko nakita, talagang pag magsalita (One of the rarest I've met, when he speaks) you can see the human spirit in his words," he said.
"I’d like to thank again the king, His Majesty Abdullah for being so kind to invite me and for being kind to my people. I will try to find a solution itong mga (for the) undocumented Filipinos. I hope to work on it right away, andito man si Alan (Alan is here)."
The king personally welcomed Duterte to his palace on Thursday.
