Contrary to claims by kin of slain OFW in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the suspect in the fatal stabbing incident on January 7 is still alive and is being treated in a hospital, the Philippine Embassy in KSA said Friday.
"Buhay po si kabayan at kasalukuyang nasa ICU ng National Guard Hospital, 'wag po tayo maniwala sa mga balita na kumakalat sa social media na patay na ang [suspect] na OFW," Philippine Ambassador to KSA Adnan Alonto told GMA News.
Alonto made the clarification after the wife of the victim claimed on Friday that the suspect died in the hospital.
After stabbing dead his OFW co-worker, the suspect jumped from the third floor of the apartment room the victim and the suspect shared.
Alonto appealed to the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia to refrain from passing on any information about the incident that is deemed speculative and unverified.
Meanwhile, Alonto said that the embassy is preparing for the repatriation of the remains of the victim, and that the embassy us just awaiting Saudi authorities' go signal. —LBG, GMA News
