Thousands of Pinoy workers needed in Europe, Asia —POEA


Thousands of Filipino workers are needed in a number of countries in Asia and in Europe, the Philippine  Overseas Employment Administration said Thursday.
Citing information from POEA, GMA News' "Unang Balita" said that Saudi Arabia needs 1,000 women specialist nurses; Abu Dhabi needs 150 emergency medical technicians; Germany needs 400 nurses; and Poland over 1,000 skilled and non-skilled workers.
POEA said applicants should make sure they only deal with POEA-licensed and -accredited recruitment agencies.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Association of Service Exporters, Inc. (PASEI) said that salaries and working conditions in those countries are good.

Pixabay MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has expanded its list of medicines which are exempt from the value added tax (VAT). Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 17-2024 released by the tax bureau exempted 21 medications following the endorsement of the Food and Drug Administration. The VAT-exempted medications on the list are for conditions such as cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, kidney disease, mental illness and tuberculosis.
