More than 2,000 Pinoys repatriated from Syria

MANILA, Philippines – More than 2,000 Filipinos from Syria have been repatriated since violence broke out in the country last year.
As of August 13, 2012, the Philippine government has sent home 2,060 Filipinos from Syria.
Recently, 23 Pinoys arrived in Manila. Ten, including two minors arrived on August 7. Another Pinoy arrived on Aug. 8; four more on Aug. 9; and 8 repatriates on Aug. 12.
Most of the repatriates were from the Syrian capital Damascus and from Aleppo, one of the cities worst-hit by recent violence.
Relatives are urged to provide the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs (OUMWA) with latest information regarding their loved ones' current location and their contact details in Syria by calling (02) 834-4996 or (02) 834-3333.
Filipinos in Syria can likewise call the Embassy at 963-11-6132626.
