Pinoy among 162 alleged illegal aliens arrested in Malaysia
A Filipino was among the 162 alleged aliens arrested by Malaysia immigration authorities Friday night, Malaysia's Bernama news agency reported Saturday.
The Bernama report, posted on Malaysian news site New Straits Times, said the foreign nationals arrested in "Ops Bersepadu 6P", included 56 Myanmar nationals, 36 Bangladeshis, 30 Nepalese, 23 Indonesians, seven Indians, five Pakistanis, four Vietnamese and the Filipino.
Among those arrested 19 were women, and all the suspects' ages ranged between 12 and 60 years.
The foreign nationals allegedly either did not possess identification documents or had overstayed in Malaysia, immigration assistant director Amdan Yahaya said.
Some 275 law enforcement officers from the National Registration department, Civil Defense department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Civil Volunteer Corps (Rela) took part in the operation, which started at 11 p.m. Friday and lasted six hours.
