Pinoys abroad advised: Civil registry documents to be issued by new stats body
Filipinos abroad will soon have to get their civil registry documents from the newly created Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
In Japan, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo issued this reminder as it cited RA 10625, the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which President Benigno Aquino III signed into law last year.
"All civil registry documents (i.e. birth certificate/ROB, marriage certificate/ROM, death certificate/ROD, CENOMAR) are now issued by the PSA," it said.
But it added such certifications may still be obtained from the National Statistics Office "until the full merger" of the agencies under the new PSA.
The embassy noted the implementing rules and regulations for the PSA's enabling law took effect on December 29, 2013.
PSA merges the NSO, National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) and the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS).
It shall serve as the central statistical authority of the Philippine government. It shall also administer the civil registration functions provided under Act No. 3753 (Law on Registry of Civil Status). — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
