POEA warns Bohol jobseekers vs. new job offers for Japan
Labor officials on late Sunday warned prospective overseas Filipino workers against falling for a new wave of supposed job offers promising work in Japan as entertainers.
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration head Hans Leo Cacdac said these ads appeared in a newspaper in Bohol, which is recovering from a magnitude-7.2 quake last October.
Cacdac also posted on his tweet a photo of a newspaper ad, which he indicated was from the Bohol Sunday Post.
The ad was seeking "female entertainers" who are "wanted in Japan," and listed three mobile numbers. It listed its address as Torralba Street in Tagbilaran City.
In a separate tweet, Cacdac said licensed recruitment agencies may advertise only actual job vacancies "that must be covered by POEA-registered job orders."
He said these must indicate their name, address, license number of recruitment agency and work site of the principal employer, as well as skills categories and qualification standards and the number of available positions.
Foreign advertisers for overseas job vacancies may do so only through a POEA-licensed agency or the POEA, he added. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
