Pinoy guard arrested in Dubai for killing wife - report

Philippines - A Filipino security guard in Dubai was arrested Thursday night for allegedly killing his wife, online news site Khaleej Times reported Sunday.

The guard initially identified only as AF, was accused of killing his wife in a villa in the Al Twar area in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Police sources said the man was referred to public prosecution Saturday.

Initial investigation showed the Dubai police received information at 9 p.m. Thursday that a woman had been stabbed by her husband in a villa located behind a gas station in the Al Twar area.

Officers from the Al Ghusais Police Station rushed to the site and saw the 31-year-old Filipina, identified as J, lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.

She died while she was being brought to a hospital.

CID officials noticed the Filipina's husband hiding in the compound. On seeing the police, he tried to flee, but the police arrested him.

During interrogation, the man told the police that he entered into a heated argument with his wife while the two were having drinks in their room.

He said that he was enraged when his wife abused him, forcing him to stab her. He insisted his intention was not to kill her.

A woman neighbor said the couple had been living with her and other families in the same villa for a while and seemed happy. Neighbors had never heard them quarrelling.

But on Thursday night, the woman neighbor heard the victim screaming and the Filipino was seen rushing out of the room with bloodstains on his shirt. - GMANews.TV
