2 charged in Dubai for sexual abuse, detention of Pinay

MANILA, Philippines - Two Bangladeshi salesmen in Dubai face trial for alleged detention and sexual exploitation of a 38-year-old Filipina household servant for four months.

Online news site Gulf News reported that prosecutors charged the two — one 41 year-old, and the other 26-year-old — with violating anti-human trafficking law.

According to the report, the Filipina has been working for an Emirati family in Al Ain before she was "kidnapped."

Quoting a statement from the alleged victim, Gulf News reported that the Filipina was handed to a man identified as "M.A.," and was detained for four days before one of the Bangladeshis took her.

"M.C." the 41-year-old Bangladeshi allegedly beat, threatened, and raped her.

"He also forced me to have sex with men for money until I escaped to the consulate," the Filipina alleged in her statement.

The report said the Filipina managed to escape, and took refuge at the Philippine Consulate in Dubai before reporting the incident to the police.

M.C. was charged with beating the domestic helper and locking her up in a room for nearly four months. He is also facing trial for running a brothel where some prostitutes from the Philippines allegedly work.

The two denied the charges before the Dubai Court of First Instance, which will assign a lawyer to defend the suspects next month. - Mark Joseph Ubalde, GMANews.TV
