(UPDATE) Remains of Pinoy cook killed in Iraq blast to arrive June 6

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the remains of Filipino worker, Dionasis "Jojo" Saguid, who was killed in a mortar attack inside Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, would arrive on June 6, Friday.

DFA spokesperson Claro Cristobal told GMANews.TV in a text message that Saguid would be flown to the country via Qatar Airways flight 646 on Friday afternoon.

The 32-year-old cook reportedly died covering two of his Filipina co-workers from exploding mortar shells.

"Jojo used his body to cover the two Filipinas that’s why all the shrapnel hit him," Saguid's wife, Grace told GMANews' Kara David in a report. The two are already "out of danger" according to Cristobal.

In 2006, Saguid began working as a cook inside the Green Zone or the International Zone, a 10-square-kilometer heavily guarded diplomatic and government area in central Baghdad.

GMANews.TV received several e-mails of condolences coming from Filipino workers in Iraq claiming to know Saguid.

"Pare, saludo ako sa ginawa mo. Alam mong matagal tayong nagsama pero nagkahiwalay lang tayo dahil sa hindi maganda ang nangyari sa unang company natin (I truly commend what you did, friend. You know we've been together for a long time but only parted ways because of the unfortunate experience we had with our first company)," a certain 'Allan' from Baghdad wrote.

"Hayaan mo pag-pray over na lang kita (Don't worry, I'll just pray over you)," he added. - Mark Joseph Ubalde, GMANews.TV
