POEA launches OFW online registration system

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Monday launched its online registration system to fast-track the documentation of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) leaving and returning to the country.

OFWs may now apply for the POEA clearance through the Internet, according to Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, the agency's administrator.

"With the new process, a returning worker may visit the POEA Web site to fill out and submit online the OFW information sheet, and print the document. The printed information sheet has bar codes for easier uploading of information to the POEA database," Baldoz said during the start of a week-long Migrants Day celebration.

Baldoz said the printed information sheet could be presented to either the POEA Balik-Manggagawa Processing Center for regular processing, or Teleserve Balik-Manggagawa Express Office at the agency's office in Ortigas, Pasig City for a one-way delivery system, or to any Aboitiz/To Go branch for Teleserve’s two-way delivery system.

The POEA's regional and deputized offices and the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices also issued exit clearance for returning OFWs, according to Baldoz.

The exit clearance is required for presentation at international airports prior to the departure of OFWs.

Also, Baldoz said an online registration system is now in place for job applicants who are aspiring for overseas jobs through the POEA’s government placement branch.

Job seekers could likewise log on to the POEA Web site to access the new registration system. Applicants who previously registered using the old online system could also update their registration profile. - GMANews.TV
