PHL govt debt reaches P5 trillion as of end-June



 
Outstanding debt of the national government reached P5.100 trillion as of end-June, up by P290.50 billion or 6.04 percent from P4.810 trillion a year earlier, the Bureau of the Treasury said in a report Monday.
 
Compared to the debt stock as of end-May, the government’s obligations in June were lower by P46.67 billion, Treasury data showed.
 
The debt stock consists of P3.05 trillion owed to domestic creditors and P2.05 trillion to foreign lenders. 
 
Year-on-year, domestic debt was up but foreign loans were nearly unchanged during the period, Treasury data showed.
  
Domestic debt rose by 10.56 percent or P291 billion to P3.05 trillion from P2.758 trillion.
 
Foreign debt was nearly unchanged at P2.050 trillion from P2.051 trillion.
 
Bulk of the debt owed to foreign creditors comprised P1.235 trillion in bonds: P1.056 trillion in US dollars, P53.31 billion in Japanese yen, P26.35 billion in euros bonds and P98.88 billion in global peso-denominated bonds. — VS, GMA News
