RH bill, makatutulong sa paglago ng ekonomiya - NEDA chief



 
Nanindindigan ang National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) na makakatulong ang Reproductive Health Bill (RHB) para patuloy ang pag-angat ng ekonomiya sa bansa.

Ayon kay NEDA Director General Arsenio Balisacan, ang mabilis na paglobo ng ating populasyon ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit mabagal ang pag-angat ng ating ekonomiya.

"Clearly, yung rapid population growth constrains our ability to move to a higher, long-term growth," ayon kay Balisacan sa kanyang pagdalo sa Senado para sa Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) .

Isinagawa ni Balisacan ang pahayag matapos usisain siya hinggil sa RH bill nina Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile at Sens. Panfilo Lacson, Ralph Recto at Loren Legarda sa deliberasyon ng kanilang budget para sa 2013.

Sinabi pa ni Balisacan na mayroong 1.98 percent growth rate ang Pilipinas at ang RH bill ang magiging susi para mapigilan ito habang 4 percent naman ang fertility rate.

"We would want to see that the growth in the population is coming from the labor force... In other words, may demographic transition," dagdag pa ni Balisacan.

Aniya, kung mahina ang growth rate, makakatiyak ng maayos na edukasyon ang mga kabataan dahil may sapat na pera ang kanilang mga magulang.

"Of course with a lower fertility rate, parents, particularly poor parents would be able to provide better education, better health, better nutrition for their children… and that would make them highly productive adults when – 10 years to 15 years from now – they join the labor force," dagdag pa nito. - BM, GMA News
