5 Pinays among 8 arrested in Kota Kinabalu for ‘engaging in vice’

Five Filipinas were among eight foreigners arrested in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah for alleged "vice" activities, a Malaysian news site reported Sunday.

The five Filipinas were among seven people arrested at an entertainment outlet at Cyber Square shortly after midnight Saturday, Malaysia's The Star Online reported.

While the report did not name the Filipinas, it said they were aged 24 to 38. Three of them had no documents, it added.

First to be arrested before 8 p.m. Saturday was a 45-year-old woman from China at hotel at the KK Times Square commercial area, Kota Kinabalu city police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandrasaid.

Seized in the area were a used condom and several other new ones as well as RM150.

A second Chinese woman, 37, was arrested at a karaoke lounge in Kepayan before midnight. She had two unused condoms and RM150.

In a separate operation at an entertainment outlet at Cyber Square, police arrested the 24-year-old caretaker along with the five Filipinas and a 27-year-old Indonesian woman.

Chandra said most of the arrested arrived in Sabah as tourists with social visit passes.

He said 44 people were also investigated and taken for urine tests during the raids. “A woman and three men were tested positive for drugs,” he added.  Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
