Pinoy schoolboy hurt in knife attack in UAE

A 14-year-old Filipino student studying at The Philippine School (TPS) in the United Arab Emirates was on Tuesday stabbed four times and seriously injured by a schoolmate.

The victim claimed that he had confronted a seventh grader who had flashed him the finger, UAE news site Gulf News reported.

The row deteriorated fight in which the victim was stabbed with what was described as either a camping or military knife.

The 14-year-old was taken to the Rashid Hospital, and was in stable condition and under observation.

Meanwhile, the alleged attacker was taken to the Rashidiya police station.

School principal Jocelyn Sollano said she could not disclose anything further, "because it’s under investigation by the police.”

Sollano also denied a supposed lack of security in the school. “We have all the security guards. Everyone is safe,” she explained.  Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
