Cop charged for kidnapping, raping Pinay in UAE

A police official in the United Arab Emirates was haled to court for allegedly abducting and raping a Filipina whom she offered a ride last May, a UAE news site reported Tuesday.

The corporal, 20, was charged before the Court of First Instance for allegedly driving the woman to an area near a construction site and assaulting her, Khaleej Times reported.

Prosecution records showed the policeman saw the Filipina waiting for a cab shortly before midnight in Al Warqa, and stopped and offered her a lift.

After gaining her trust with his police card, the suspect allegedly drove the Filipina to a dark location near a construction site where he allegedly raped her.

The Filipina, 41, said she was to spend the night at her friend's place when the policeman stopped for her. He asked for her ID, she said.

She said she could not stop him from assaulting her, even if she said she was old and had children.

After the alleged assault, the policeman dropped the Filipina off at a bus stop in Al Warqa and told her not to inform anyone.

Meanwhile, another police corporal said they tracked the defendant through his car’s plate number.

“We knew that his car belonged to a rental agency. We got the name of the accused from the agency’s office. It became clear that he worked as a cop,” the corporal said.

The policeman was arrested at his workplace on May 12 and allegedly admitted to the police that he raped the complainant. Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
