Pinoys in UK, North Ireland advised to be vigilant after terror alert level was raised
Filipinos in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland were advised to be vigilant and to take precautions for safety after the terror threat level there was raised to "severe."
The Philippine Embassy in UK said the "severe" threat level indicates the UK government believes a terrorist attack is highly likely, though not yet imminent.
"Be vigilant and take general precautions for personal safety," the embassy said.
It noted that while the "severe" warning means a terrorist attack is highly likely, authorities note there is "no specific intelligence that an attack is imminent."
Other tips the embassy gave Filipinos in the UK and Northern Ireland include:
- Heed the official government warning/s
- Monitor government information channels and the general media for further developments or updates on the situation
Filipinos can also get information on the UK national security situation on the main government website and the Security Service.
"Should there be need to, the Embassy may be contacted through our 24-hour emergency hotline on 07802790695," it said. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
