150 Pinoys in Jeddah completed computer literacy program

JEDDAH — A total of 150 Filipino workers here recently completed the computer literacy program conducted by Jeddah Educational Foundation (JEF-Filcom).

Some of the courses offered were AutoCAD, Laptop/Desktop Servicing, Graphic Design, CCTV Security, Primavera P6, Photoshop C56, Web Design, Photo & Video Editing, STAAD PRO, Windows Server 2012, Advance PC Configuration and Troubleshooting.

All successful students received certificates, according to Romy Capili, the group head officer.

JEF-Filcom is an outreach education campaign by the Jeddah Children Educational Foundation School providing Filipino workers with training on computer literacy and trade skills required for their respective professional competencies.

During the commencement ceremony, Vladimir Cayabas of the Baguio City-based National Institution of Information Technology (NIIT) explained via Skype the partnership entered between JEF-Filcom and NIIT.

Cayabas said all JEF-Filcom students will be recognized by the  Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) once their profile is forwarded to NIIT.

He further said skills assessment will also be conducted to all JEF-Filcom students who are willing to take the TESDA National Certification Examination.  

Although it was their first commencement exercise, Capili said JEF-Filcom has already conducted six rounds of computer literacy program.

On December 1, 2013, JEF’s administration approved the creation of the JEF-Filcom Computer Literacy Program to help Filipino workers in computer technologies in order for them to be more competitive in their chosen field of expertise.

Equipped with professional trainers in their field of work JEF-Filcom has successfully started their computer literacy program on December 13, 2013. —Ronaldo Concha/KBK, GMA News
