3 Pinoys feared missing in Taiwan bridge collapse

Three Filipino workers are feared to be among the six people missing after a bridge in Taiwan collapsed and fell on the fishing vessels berthed under it, a Philippine official said Wednesday
"Mayroon tayong tatlong unaccounted for, tatlong kababayan natin... kasama nung tatlong Indonesian," Manila Economic and Cultural Office Director Gerry De Belen said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.
"So, anim 'yung missing na katao, tatlo doon ay pinangangambahan natin na mga Pilipino," he added.
Further, De Belen said that four out of the five other Filipinos hospitalized due to the incident have already been discharged.
"'Very minor injuries lang 'yung kanilang natamo. 'Yung isa naiwan pa sa ospital para obserbahan pero stable naman siya ayon sa ating welfare officer na rumesponde doon sa lugar," he added.
Operations to retrieve a portion of a wrecked vessel is ongoing.
"Hanggang sa ngayon ina-attempt nila na iahaon, i-salvage 'yung natitirang bahagi ng fishing vessel na nakalubog pa," De Belen said.
On Tuesday, Taiwan rescuers were having difficulty accessing the submerged vessels because of low visibility.
"It's been a long time since it happened and even if the workers survived the impact of the collapse, the air might not last this long," a Taiwanese official who spoke on condition of anonymity said. —Dona Magsino/LBG, GMA News
