Pinoys in Lebanon advised to stay away from crowds, remain indoors amid protests

The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon advised Filipinos staying in that country to take the necessary precautions amid protest actions.
"Sa mga kababayang Filipino sa Lebanon, mag-ingat po tayo sa ating mga lakarin at gawain," it said in an announcement posted on Facebook early Saturday morning (PHL time).
"Para sa ating kaligtasan at mabuting kapakanan, umiwas sa mga lugar na maraming tao, may kilos protesta, pagsusunog ng gulong at katulad na gawa," it added.
"Kung walang importanteng dahilan, mas mabuting manatili sa bahay," the embassy said.

Those needing emergency assistance may contact the number 03859430, it added.
Protesters numbering in the tens of thousands marched on Friday across Lebanon to demand the removal of leaders they accused of looting the economy.
Police have fired tear gas and chased down protesters in Beirut, according to a report by Reuters.
Saudi Arabia called on its citizens not to travel to Lebanon.
As of 2015, there were 27,812 Filipinos in Lebanon, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs. —KG, GMA News
