Deputy Premier meets senior commanders, defense and interior ministry officials KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah ordered military and security officials to implement HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s directives about applying the law equally to all. Sheikh Fahad’s remarks were made during a meeting with the senior commanders and officials of the ministries of defense and interior at the defense ministry on Friday, according to a statement by the Army. He also called for executing HH the Amir’s directives about intensifying efforts, increasing cooperation and coordination among the military sectors to defend the homeland and maintain its security and stability. He pointed out the military institution has great responsibilities and enormous tasks that require adherence to instructions, seriousness and firmness in applying the law to everyone without exception or discrimination. He noted HH the Amir and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah are closely following up on efforts exerted to boost the capabilities of the military sectors. Sheikh Fahad vowed to work according to the directives and instructions of HH the Amir and HH the Premier and follow up on the efforts and the decisions made in this regard. He promised to employ all potentials and remove any obstacle facing the materialization of their vision and goals. — KUNA

The Israel-Hamas war raging in Gaza entered its fourth month on Sunday as the army again pounded the besieged Palestinian territory and US top diplomat Antony Blinken was back in the region seeking to avoid a wider escalation. Israeli airstrikes overnight and early Sunday killed at least 64 people in the Hamas-run Palestinian territory, said its health ministry. It said two journalists were killed when their car was struck.
