China clarifies use of visas for Shanghai

The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Shanghai’s Public Security Bureau Entry and Exit Administration clarified some issues relating to the use of visas for Shanghai.

Travelers entering China via Shanghai should have at least one of the following valid visas:

“F" visa is issued to foreigners who are invited to China for purposes of visits, research, lectures, business, scientific, technological and cultural exchange, short term study, attendance in international meetings, and other events.

“X" visa is issued to foreigners traveling to China for training or field study.

“L" visa is issued to tourists or persons traveling to China for personal/tourism purposes.

“Z" visa is issued to foreigners and their family members who are to be employed in China. The maximum period of stay is one year.

ZERO visa is issued to foreigners who have overstayed. The visa is utilized to leave China legally and is only valid for single use.

The No visa policy is for a 48-hour stopover in Shanghai. Prior to arrival in Shanghai, travelers should have in their possession plane tickets with connecting flights and onward destination which should neither be the traveler’s country of origin nor other points in China.

Travelers are reminded that holders of “L" (tourist) and “F" (business) visas are forbidden to work in China. - GMANews.TV
