1 of 2 Pinoy survivors in Qatar blast discharged from hospital

One of the two Filipinos injured in last week's gas explosion in Doha, Qatar, has already been discharged from hospital, “News TV Live” reported Tuesday.

The explosion occurred in a mall last Thursday where the victims were working as merchandisers. Twelve people, two of them Filipinos, were killed.

The survivor, Philip Joy Reyes, underwent a jaw surgery after he was hit by a hard object from the explosion, the report said.

Reyes also sustained injuries to his face, arms, hands and right eye.

There was no information from the Philippine Embassy in Qatar about the condition of the other injured Filipino.

The report said the remains of the two Filipino fatalities will be repatriated in two weeks' time.

The explosion was the deadliest in Qatar since May 2012, when at least 19 foreign nationals, including 13 children, were killed by a fire in an upscale shopping mall. — Drei Medina/KBK, GMA News
