No work for worm pickers



The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration advises Filipino workers
to be wary of an employment scam allegedly operated by two recruitment
companies based in Taiwan and Canada.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Toronto, Canada reported that
a group of Filipino workers in Taiwan were recruited by Metrix Recruitment
and GERS Global supposedly to work as worm pickers in Canada in exchange of
US$10,000. The OFWs arrived in Canada only to find out that there were no
jobs waiting for them.

The recruiters collected from the workers an additional US$2,000 for another
job that also turned out to be non-existent
