Manila Cathedral among attractions at Japan snow festival
The Manila Cathedral, one of the venues of Pope Francis' recent visit to the Philippines, will be an attraction anew, this time in Japan where it is part of a snow festival.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, the historic Cathedral will appear at the Snow Festival in Sapporo.
"Standing at 13 meters (4 storeys) high, the Manila Cathedral will be one of the grandest attractions in the Festival. A whole block is dedicated for the Philippines this year, called the HBC Philippine Square," it said.
It added Philippine dance performances and a booth showcasing the country will also highlight the event.
Last October, the Manila Cathedral website said the cathedral-basilica is one of the structures being considered for being sculptured on ice for the Sapporo Snow Festival.
It said the festival is scheduled in February 2015, and is one of Japan’s largest and most distinctive winter events. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
