DFA: No plan to stamp passports ‘not valid for travel to Libya’

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday belied rumors it is planning to stamp passports with “Not Valid for Travel to Libya.”

In a news release, the DFA said it has not announced any plans to stamp that annotation as a restriction on passports it currently issues.

"Nonetheless, the DFA still maintains its Crisis Alert Level 4 over Libya.  The DFA is still currently conducting repatriation operations for Filipinos in that country," it said.

Several overseas Filipino workers were repatriated in past days from Libya.

Meanwhile, the DFA appealed anew to Filipinos in Libya to contact the Philippine  Embassy in Tripoli through telephone numbers (00218) 918-244-208, 914-370-399 and 945-348-481, and e-mail addresses tripoli.pe@gmail.com and   tripoli.pe@dfa.gov.ph to register for repatriation.

Families can also call DFA's 24-hour hotlines (02) 552-7105 and 834-4685 to register their relatives in Libya for repatriation.

They may also call these numbers for any questions and concerns, or send their queries by e-mail to oumwa@dfa.gov.ph.  Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
