SAUDI ARABIA – A Filipino overseas worker from Albay committed suicide by drinking poison last month in Al-Khobar.
Noel Magallano was found dead inside his accommodation in Aziziyah in Al-Khobar. A suicide note was found beside the body.
Magallano, 46, was said to have downed poison on the morning of July 26.
The OFW was working as goldsmith and silversmith at Erum Jewelry and even reported for work at 7:30 a.m. but rushed back home 30 minutes later.
Co-worker Lisa Dulce said that the OFW was facing financial problems based on the phone conversation she had with Magallano's wife.
"Napag-alaman ko na may family problem sila. Nagkaroon po ng discussion tungkol sa pera and nasabi po niya na hindi niya akalain na itutuloy niya yong balak niya," she said.
This was not the first time that the OFW planned on ending his life. Two years ago, Magallano also wanted to commit suicide also due to financial troubles. But with his friends' help, he was able to resolve it.
Magallano is survived by his wife and their two children in Daraga, Albay. -- Report from Florante Catanus, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau
