PALAWAN -- An overseas Filipino worker was found dead in Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia after allegedly failing to pay a debt.
Aldrin Villaran, 20, from Palawan, was with his cousin, Jayson Delos Santos, last July 28 when four unidentified men took them.
Delos Santos was able to go home, but Villaran was found dead on July 31.
According to Delos Santos, he and his cousin have a debt of 120 Malaysian ringgit or around P1,650.
The victim's family said their relatives in Malaysia told them that the suspects are still at large, and that they allegedly paid the Malaysian police to close the case and halt the investigation.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), they have been informed of the case, adding that they have already sent a request to Malaysia to send the victim's body back to the Philippines.
The family of Delos Santos is also seeking the help of the DFA after receiving reports that the suspects are still looking for their son. -- report from Efraim Canoy, ABS-CBN Palawan
