US Embassy: Consular office in Cebu closed Aug. 20 to 22

The United States Embassy's consular agency in Cebu will be closed from Wednesday to Friday, the embassy announced on Monday.

In its announcement, the embassy said it will be open partially on Monday, and fully reopen on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

"The Agency will be open for information only on Monday, August 25. Please note that no services will be provided on this date," it said.

Also, it said it will reopen for full services Aug. 26.

It did not give further details on why it would be closed starting Wednesday. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News

Pixabay MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has expanded its list of medicines which are exempt from the value added tax (VAT). Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 17-2024 released by the tax bureau exempted 21 medications following the endorsement of the Food and Drug Administration. The VAT-exempted medications on the list are for conditions such as cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, kidney disease, mental illness and tuberculosis.
