A body found near the Batang Lupar river in Malaysia by the Sarawak State police is believed to be that of Captain Rudolf Rex Ragas, a Filipino pilot who died with five others in a helicopter crash last week.
A report on Malay Mail Online quoted Women, Family and Community Development minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim as saying that forensic personnel are still confirming the body's identity on Monday.
Rohani added that Ragas' family, who arrived in Kuchang on Sunday, will identify the body once the post-mortem process is complete.
The Philippine Embassy has been notified of the pilot funeral arrangements, Rohani said.
Police transferred the body from where it was found in Pulau Triso to the Sarawak General Hospital for forensic identification. It will be flown to Kuchang to be identified by his family, a report on the International Business Times said.
Ragas was piloting an AS350B helicopter on Thursday when it crashed 20 minutes after take-off. It has five passengers.
His passengers included Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon, ministry secretary-general Sundaran Annamalai, Kuala Kangsar MP Wan Mohammad Khai-ril Anuar Wan Ahmad, and Noriah's personal bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
