MANILA - Three foreigners allegedly behind the so-called "black dollar scam" have been arrested, police said Monday.
The suspects, identified as Puerto Rican Aron James, American Brown Fonboh, and Angolan Gum Murphy, allegedly enticed victims to pay P250,000 in exchange for "legitimate" US dollar bills.
But police said foreigners were using counterfeit dollar bills, which were dyed to avoid detection by authorities.
They were arrested after one of the victims, Chinese national Emile Lau, filed a complaint before the police. The authorities then set up an entrapment operation.
Police recovered fake dollar bills from the suspects as well as the P5 million boodle money used in the operations.--report by Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
