DFA: No reports yet of Pinoys hurt in Sri Lanka blasts

There have been no reports so far of any Filipinos hurt or killed in the explosions that have hit Sri Lanka, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Sunday.
Citing Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio Bandillo, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka is now in coordination with the Philippine Honorary Consul to Colombo Hugh Sriyal Dissanayake, who is in touch with the Filipino community in the area.
"The community leaders reported that so far, there has been no report of any Filipino hurt in the explosions," the DFA said.
Eight explosions have been reported so far in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on Sunday, with at least 138 people confirmed dead.
"The DFA extends its condolences to the families of the fatalities from the multiple bombings at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka today," the department said.
The explosions, the DFA said, happened at St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo, a city about 20 miles north of Colombo; the St. Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo; and Zion Church in the eastern city of Batticaloa during Easter Sunday service.
Other explosions were also reported at four hotels in Colombo and in a suburb north of Colombo.
Bandillo said the Embassy is monitoring the situation, and is ready to provide assistance if needed. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
