Pinoy killed in Thailand accident involving drunk Mercedes Benz driver

A 69-year-old Filipino motorcycle rider was killed on Wednesday last week in an accident in Thailand involving an allegedly drunk Mercedes Benz driver, according to a report on the Phuket News.
Citing initial investigation, the report said Filipino Rigoberto Ignacio was on the right-hand lane waiting for the red light at the intersection of Kwang Road and Chao Fa West Road in Wichit when he was hit by the Mercedez Benz S500 from behind.
The driver of the Mercedez Benz was identified as 48-year-old Le Minh Thi, a Cambodian.
When the Wichit Police came at 1:30 a.m., Ignacio was found lying unconscious on the road with his head bleeding. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police tested Le for alcohol and found the result twice more than the legal limit at 112 milligram/100 milliliter. The suspect reportedly admitted that he was drunk when he was driving.
Le was arrested and charged with drunk driving causing death and damage to property. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
