Overseas absentee voting begins today, April 13

UNTIL MAY 13

Registered Filipino voters living or working overseas may now proceed to their respective embassies and polling posts to cast their ballots for the 2019 midterm elections in May.
The overseas absentee voting period will run from Saturday (April 13, 2019) until election day in the Philippines (May 13, 2019).
Jun Veneracion's Balitanghali report on Saturday said registered Filipino voters may cast their ballots at 83 Philippine embassies, consulates, and foreign posts within the 30-day window.
Vote counting will be manual at some posts, while the rest will be using vote counting machines (VCMs) that first have to undergo final testing and sealing (FTS).
The report said FTS activities in the US led by the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C., for one, encountered no problems.
No overseas voting would be held in Damascus, Tripoli and Baghdad in light of ongoing conflict in these areas.
Comelec has yet to see a timeframe when overseas elections would be possible in these areas as of the report.
Comelec had also announced it is determined to fight the spread of fake news.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez pointed out that during the 2016 elections, fake news attacking the integrity of the elections started spreading in the first hour of overseas absentee voting. — MDM, GMA News
