Filipinos advised to cancel trip to Libya

April 06, 2019

THE Department of Foreign Affairs strongly advised Filipino workers from Tripoli and the surrounding areas who are currently on vacation in the Philippines and are scheduled to return to Libya in the coming days to postpone their travel amid the continuing tensions near the Libyan capital.

The DFA also advised Filipinos in Tripoli to exercise extreme caution and called on those living within a 100 kilometer radius of the Libyan capital to remain vigilant  until the tensions subside.
The Department echoed the request of the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli for members of the Filipino Community to stay indoors; avoid any unnecessary movement and public gatherings, and to follow the instructions of their employers until the situation normalizes.
Earlier, the Embassy had also told the estimated 1,000 Filipinos in Tripoli and surrounding areas to ensure they have adequate food, water and other essential provisions.
Filipinos who wish to be repatriated are advised to immediately contact the Embassy so arrangements could  be made for their travel home.
Filipinos in need of urgent assistance may contact the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli through the number +218-91-824-4208 or through “Philippine Embassy in Libya” Facebook Page.
