PHL envoy: No Pinoys killed in Tripoli clashes

No Filipinos have been reported killed amid the ongoing mayhem in Libya which is currently in a state of civil war, a Philippine envoy said Tuesday.
"There were no Filipinos reported among the casualties in the fighting in the immediate outskirts of Tripoli," Elmer Cato, Charge d'Affaires of the Philippine Embassy to Libya, told GMA News Online.
Tripoli is the capital city of Libya.
Only a handful of Filipinos, however, have approached the Philippine Embassy in Libya regarding the voluntary repatriation as of latest update.
"So far, only seven of the estimated 1,000 Filipinos in the capital and surrounding areas have asked the Philippine Embassy in Libya about repatriation," Cato said.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro "Teddy Boy" Locsin Jr. said there are ongoing mobilization efforts to assist the affected Filipinos in Libya. — RSJ, GMA News
