MANILA -- Senatorial candidate Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Monday said he will focus on crafting laws for overseas Filipino workers and policemen.
A former police and corrections chief, Dela Rosa was among 9 administration bets who looked set to get Senate seats, unofficial tallies showed.
Dela Rosa said he will file a bill that would allow the Philippine National Police (PNP) to have control over police training.

Under the current system, police training is under the PNP Academy, an institution governed by the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC).
Dela Rosa also said he wants to provide legal assistance to distressed OFWs.
He and medical doctor Willie Ong were the top choices of overseas voters, based on partial and unofficial results.
In the overall national count, Dela Rosa was at 5th place with 18,805,908 votes, with 98.28 percent of returns tallied as of Monday 7 p.m.
The proclamation of winning senators and party-list groups on Tuesday, May 21, is a "pretty sure bet", the Commission on Elections said.
Dela Rosa earlier said he would push for the revival of the death penalty against drug traffickers and police officials who are linked to the illegal drug trade.
He thanked his supporters and urged them to just wait for the proclamation.
"Maghintay lang tayo, alangan pabilisin natin ang hindi pwedeng bilisan," he said.
(Let's just wait, we can't hasten something that cannot be fast tracked.)
"Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin, sa lahat ng mga bumoto at lalo na kay Lord na binigay niya na ganyang kataas na pwesto," he added.
(I thank everyone who supported me, everyone who voted, and especially the Lord for giving me such a high ranking.)
