22 Pinoys fined for possessing fake ID cards in Malaysia
Twenty-two Filipinos were meted fines Wednesday after pleading guilty to possessing fake MyKad (compulsory identity document) cards before a court in Seri Manjung in Perk, Malaysia.
Magistrate Nurul Asyifa Redzuan fined the Filipinos RM5,000 (P67,875) in default of five months' jail,Malaysia's The Star Online reported.
Citing charge sheets, the report said the 22 were arrested in two separate raids at Lumut Port last May 22.
According to the report, many of the 22 Filipinos pleaded guilty to having fake MyKads while some said they possessed cards belonging to others.
Once they complete their punishment, the 22 will be sent to the Immigration Department for deportation. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
