Filipinos in Taiwan who scheduled to avail of
consular services on June 15 may have to wait for another week, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office said on Wednesday.
The MECO, in an announcement posted on its website, said this is due to the celebration of Independence Day and Migrant Workers Day on that day.
"In view of the Independence Day/Migrant Workers Day celebration to be held on 15 June 2014, consular services for Filipinos on said date is hereby canceled and moved to 22 June 2014," it said.
Filipinos abroad are expected to observe Independence Day on its official date June 12, though some will do so on other dates.
In Hong Kong, Filipinos there are to celebrate Independence day on June 8. -Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
