5 Pinoys detained after Malaysia raid
Five Filipinos were arrested in a raid on illegal activities in Sibu town in Malaysia last Thursday, a Malaysian news site reported late Saturday.
Caught at a pub were a Filipino staying in the area for more than 12 years and two Filipinas in their 30s, Malaysia's The Star Online reported.
While the report did not name the Filipino, it said he had already married a local woman and could speak the Iban tongue "reasonably well."
Malaysian authorities detained the three for violating the Immigration Act 1959/1963 and for failing to show any valid travel document.
Authorities also detained two women from the Philippines, who reportedly worked as guest relations officers, but were in the town on social visit passes.
The two were caught sitting with two men from Peninsular Malaysia.
