Cebu children's choir wins medals in HK competition
Gifted with a nice set of pipes, the Children's Paradise Choir from Cebu made their country proud by winning in an international choral competition.
The choir won the gold medal for the Folklore category and a silver medal for Children's Choir category at the Asia Cantate International Choral Festival held last week in Hong Kong.
Only on its third year, the competition held last Friday featured competitors from Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, among others.
Dennis Gregory Sugarol, the choir's maestro, said in a report on GMA News' "24 Oras" on Tuesday that the choir performed Ifugao and African songs for the competition.
The report said both the Filipino community and the Philippine Consulate General congratulated the 29-person choir, which is based in Mandaue City.
While choir won in the Children's Choir and Folklore categories, they didn't place in the Equal Voices category, the "24 Oras" report said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
