DOLE: 4,333 Pinoys repatriated so far from Libya

At least 4,333 overseas Filipino workers have been repatriated from strife-torn Libya so far, with government releasing some P42.78 million for their financial relief assistance.
 
The Department of Labor and Employment said this was the number of repatriated Filipinos as of Oct. 31, adding most of the repatriates availed of the government's mandatory repatriation.
 
National Reintegration Center for OFWs Director Chona Mantilla said 2,977 or 65 percent of the repatriates are active members of the Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration while 1,197 or 28 percent are non-OWWA members.
 
DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said four percent or 159 of the 4,333 repatriates have no records.
 
Meanwhile, the repatriates have received services via the government's Assist WELL program.
 
She said agencies giving services to the repatriates include:
- Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA)
- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
- Bureau of Local Employment (BLE)
- DOLE regional offices
- NRCO
 
The assistance included a P10,000 financial grant under the Financial Relief Assistance Program that had benefited 4,278 of the repatriates.
 
Breakdown
 
The repatriated OFWs by region includes those from Region 4-A (1,057); Region 3 (821); and Metro Manila (720).
 
Among the forms of assistance they availed of included:
 
- request for assistance for overseas employment (2,529)
- transportation assistance to their home provinces (2,435)
- livelihood assistance (1,973)
- training and/or scholarship (1,973)
- request for assistance for local employment (1,429).
